Field Marshal Sir John Chapple’s visit to
BRINOS Ear Care Centre in Nepalgunj

On Monday 3rd March 2014, Field Marshal Sir John Chapple, a patron of BRINOS, met Dr Neil Weir and many of the team when he stopped off on his return from Bardia.

He was treated to a traditional welcome with garland etc. He was greeted formally by Dr Kashi Gyawali, one of the surgeons, who’s father had served in the 9th Gurkha Regiment.

He saw the temporary accommodation in the rented property, just across the road from the site of where the new Ear Care Centre is under construction.

There he met the medical team and witnessed ear surgery under way and was impressed.  He noted the positive effect of this service given to this multi-cultural community, both from Nepal and from across the border in India.

Sir John also visited the building site of the new Centre, where he laid a ceremonial trowel of concrete to celebrate the completion to the first floor level.

Sir John has known of BRINOS since its very early years and he really appreciated the effects of the large number of operations performed during the many “travelling surgical camps”.
